The Eyes of Maple
The Coin: “Eye of Maple”
Agents of Maple may see the true form of the coin. Others only recognise the coin as a **clean, common copper coin of the lowest worth wherever it is found**. The coin is cast in a reddish brown but is stronger than bronze. Splotches of patina disease the coin’s surface, but each spot is a deep, emerald green that is as clear as a mirror.
A pinhole is the centre of the coin. If one peers into the hole they will see darkness instead of the other side of the coin. While someone is peering into the hole, a phantom eye looks back.
- If the peerer had betrayed someone, a long needle would erupt from the hole.
- When the coin escapes its ower’s possession, such as an intentional toss:
- **50% of the time, the coin may act precisely as the owner wishes**, over factors such as the facings (tossed), landing & ricocheting (thrown), the path traced (rolled) and spinning duration (span).
- **50% of the time, the coin will seemingly escape permanently**, disappearing down a river or hidden among cargo due to being sent far away.
