The Dominion
Well, I didn't vote for 'em!
Aim: to describe the functionality of the overlord's regime.
The Truths Known
- Obedience to the Lord
— The Overlord's commandments are not to be questioned.
- Overwhelming Power
— The Overlord rules with an iron boot. The Legion beckons at their call.
- Ore to One
— The Overlord holds an iron grip over the mines. All metal is pillaged and scoured from the people.
- Open Abundance
— Food is abundant for all of The Churches, The Acadamy, or The Legion. Just them.
- Orphans of War
— The Overlord has the The Marrowlithian on an iron leash, whilst shepherding them to tame the land.
Rumour Mill
Many or so tales are grinding in the rumour mill, but the overlord seems to let them slide. Not that he could do anything about it. But it seems he ain't stomping down on much either, including incessant bickering and cinders of rebellion. In fact, the overlord welcomes jokes, critiques, and even ridicule — least, the speaker must in the end, return to the daily mundane.
- The Overlord does not exist. IT is only a council of squirrels.
The Overlord's Agent
Overlord's Jester
The lord's jester litters his realm with tales of old, and rumour has it. Truth or not, they entertain the working masses with fantastic stories and silly rhetoric at the Overlord's reign. They rarely debate, since they are but a whimsical fool who sings in the name of the Overlord. Always penniless, yet you may find them jumping about everywhere, in a bar, on the trail, over the moon, under the counter, above the law and across the streets.
Overlord's Ogre
The lord's divisions of ogres do his dirty deeds in his dominion. Please do not hurry to judge, they are human in husk — ogres in heart. They are no mere backbreakers; they are the lord's tactical hammer! Sophisticated marauders, murderers and Marrowlythians. Well, not just Marrowlythians, but a great deal of them are Ogres, ha! Am I right!? They're here, even if you think they aren't. Real quiet folks until orders come down.
Overlord's Legion
The lord's mighty legion rules his realm like he's there. Well-oiled machine of war, now turned machine of production. Do not be mistaken, they're still a formidable army, just that the lord welcomes talent from all and judges only by two things—loyalty and ability. You'll find fathers, mothers, sons and daughters of all occupations. Every legion is practically a city. From head shavers to head cleavers, the legion ploughs where he points.
The Overlord's Plot
Legacy Injection
Now, what is the most efficient way to control a population? Touch upon their truths. The Overlord has initiated works to embed his presence within the stories told within The Churches. Once a Knight of Maple, a Spawn of Alice or simply an old friend of Marrowlyth. Nonetheless, the nebulous figure encroaches on the people's tales. Now, this ain't fooling no old-timers, but it is slowly but surely showing results in sowing a ripple of confusion among the young'uns. Eroding the faith of existing individuals might be fruitless, but it certainly hinders any new blood from becoming wholeheartedly faithful. Perhaps this was his wickedness's true intent all along, nay, his magnificent plan!
Locust of War
The Marrowlithians are magnificent people! Yet known as locusts — destined to curse the lands — how cruel of the populace!? The Overlord sanctioned the Marrowlithian people and fed them a promise. A promise to rid this curse and land to live on forever. Instead of the daily work, the Marrowlithians are offered the daily work of war. The Legion ranks festered with young Marrowlithains who welcomed the glory. Their fire is close, and their forge is strong; their mines are stable, and their buds blossom. Slowly but surely, the dwindling Marrowlithians will swell in numbers. Indebt and scattered to the winds, they held the lands hostage at the Overlord's call — or not. Who knows?
Once a poorly treated minority have regained influence under a sanction, hold the veins of power and have the ability to pollute the lands. Even without the Overlord's commands, their growing population poses a threat to the world.
Lead From Below
The backbone of the Overlord's power—the legion—began as a cult of one. Polluted a family, and then their neighbour.
Life Goes On
To the everyday man, changes in the powers above matter little, don't they? Be it a God who lords over you, a King, or a Demon.
