Alice Church
Subtitle
Aim:
Vampiric Magi
Upon learning a new Method of Magic, the caster will dream in an ethereal space, where Alice herself appears, stroke the character’s heart and pull out a strand of lifeforce and place it into the shard on the item. Then, the character will feel the their health deterioate, their breath rasp, their vision blurr and their hearing fuzz. Alice have once again embraced your lifefore—her scent.
No one may speak of Alice, especially the experience above. If any attempt is made to spread this information, Alice will drag the character into the ethereal space and crush their heart. Instantly killing them.
When that scent is taken away, it means that a person has dipped into their possibility to create a future. The possibility returns to the world, and you lose some potential.
Sects and Members
Scent Addicted:
Or Mana Addicts.
Some individuals are so enticed by Alice that they grow a liking to have life force (possibility and potential) drained out of them. Whether it is to meet her or to fulfil their macrosistic tendencies, what these individuals have in common is the lust for magic items. The stronger, the more potent, the better. Abandoning magical mediums, it seems that they have an unfilled hole in themselves that must be filled by having their life force drained over and over again. As if to fill that hole with their own blood, as if it is a matter of course.
The Birth of a Mana Addict — These individuals are initially usually in denial of their tendencies, but will eventually turn into crazed, mind-broken madmen whose only goal in life is magic. And more magic. Usually, with psychotic disabilities, these addicts are insane and fear no such thing as death. Whether this was Alice’s intent/doing, no one knows.
- They believe that Alice is a witch, the mother of all who live.
- Manifesto is to collect all magic items in the world and reforge the lost arm of Alice to… Restore her. Most especially, the five fingers.
- Contrary to the notion that the witch’s cult worships Alice, some sects worship the other Idols. The differences often lead to conflict between the cultists.
The Hand of Alice
Cultists who use magic items to fight, and only fight. There are many ways they fight. Using the magic items slowly, but all aim towards the thrill of the grace of Alice. The more they fight, the more and often they'll see her
“They smile and laugh in the name of their witch. What freaks.”
— A Maple Knight's comment.
The Blood Knights
Collectors, Scholars/Worshippers who are deemed to preserve the magic items. To not use them, but instead store them, either from the cultists, for the protection of others, or the preparation of the resurrection of Alice.
Officers of the Alice Knights - The Reach of Alice
The heartless, the brainless, the fearless.
Historically, the Alice Knights have passed these titles on to prestigious and profound knights.
- Aura of Lion's Courage
- Aura of Steel's Heart
- Aura of Papyrus's Wisdom
Inheriting the mantle of the roles as prominent figureheads of the Alice Knights — The Reach of Alice.
These officers are positions that seemingly recur in history, with different people inheriting the mantle of the roles as the Reach of Alice. The current generation of The Reach of Alice is:
The Blue Eyed Man
The sins that weigh upon me are mine to bear alone.
— The Blue Eyed Man
A man of small stature. He has black hair and is often seen wearing a red robe, similar to those of common disciples of Alice. However, no one has ever seen his skin bare. The only thing that distinguishes him as an officer is his cerulean/azure/ocean eye.
In reality, his skin is deeply scarred by the brand of heresy, purple bruises, and one of his eyes is blind. He was once a C Church disciple who turned to the Alice faith. He wishes to hide these and can be found wearing a suit of armour under his robes, wrapping himself tightly.
To combat the heat, he is knowledgeable in ice-based “Method of Magics”. One may find mist emanating from his body and frost where he had tread.
The Golden Lion
Jibigifig ~ AYAAAARrgh! Me pants be gilded once more!!!
— The Golden Lion
A man rumoured to be a mighty warrior who stands two men tall. He wields a mighty club as thick as a thousand-year-old tree. If he ever tossed it away, his foes would find spike knuckles meeting their face. It is said that he's also very hairy, and his golden mane shines brightly under the glaring sun.
In reality, the Golden Lion is a lithe and bald man. While not bloated like a balloon, he is indeed lean and tall. You'd often find him in a bar silently indoctrinating unsuspecting patrons to his faith. He is very timid and faints at the sight of the C Church disciples or the Witch Hunters.
Shiver Me Fiddlesticks!
Shiver Me Fiddlesticks!
— Fiddlesticks
Some guy with a peg leg. Swordsman with a straw hat. Speech impaired due to brain damage.
Why is this guy still a deciple? Let alone a Knight? I know he's anointed by her but kick him already!
— High Archibishop of The Alice Church
However, it is made known that unlike other Knightly Orders, the Alice Knights are disjointed and scattered. Often, they are treated as outlaws over any accomplished order.
