You cannot spell belief without a lie in between.

Alice Saga is an uber-setting centring around the entity — Alice. The setting borrows its name from the promptly named “Alice in Wonderland”, but its similarities end there. Instead, the setting of Alice Saga is a world of questionable myths, fabricated legends and inconclusive fables. Stories told in this setting will inadvertently come around to revolve the four sects of abruptly categorised (fictitious) beliefs found in this universe.

The setting aims to showcase the admirably stubborn yet sanctioned sense of devotion, the nuances of Idolism and the meaningless conflict of organisational legitimacy that overshadows the spirit of devotion. Nothing is sacred in the eyes of the beholder.

Single Universe

We are not dealing with “Where and how many realms this world has”.

This world is the world of Alice Saga, just another world in the soup of stories. The following lore supplements the fundamental lore and settings of the Alice Saga roleplaying system. This should be treated as an ideological structure to construct your own world.

Motivation

To build my heartbreaker fantasy setting. Names and locations are as generic as possible to be adaptable and understandable at a glance. Locations must not be mapped in physical space but as targets to form relationships to.

Rational

A setting should offer a package of prebuilt resources ready to be spilt out onto a page of your mind like spilling a Lego set. You can play it as is, or hack it to your liking.

An expansive, robust setting is lucrative to dig into for TTRPG. However, I have found difficulty in actually making use of the setting. Barred by ludicrously complicated jargon, meaningless or saturated with made-up meaning, understanding; first and foremost becomes a hurdle. Plus, when unfamiliar, the ingenuity of relationships between entities is lost when an out-of-the-loop outsider to the setting fails to gasp at the several leverage points for play. Only the creator understands best only what they conceived.

Simple settings are quick to familiarise and effective to use. A truck of Legos is a nightmare of decision paralysis and lost heads (no matter how well organised they are); while a hearty bucket-full of an irregular mix, the loss in completeness and volume stimulates creativity better than any full-house ride. The enemy of creativity is the absence of limitations. The best I had seen was TabletopTerror’s Adventure Toolkits. Incisive material is worth their reader’s time in buck loads of opportunity for a good TTRPGin’!

  • All characters originate from one’s amusing ideas. While a character is likely to spawn for a given setting, scenario or scene playing in your head, they must remain free to be included elsewhere. Hence, for any particular uber-setting, the character should be allocated under a crux Namespace. Then is linked from and to settings, scenarios etc. Define what a crux is.
  • Add a wunderkammer namespace for… magic items? Items or the timeline?

  • Significant entities deserve a dedicated namespace after their name (for easy gallery generation).

Guest Scribes

Many sections of this wiki are scribed from the perspective of the residents of the world of Alice Saga. Fictional guest scribes are invited to share their thoughts and work on certain topics. User accounts are created for these guest personas.
